Dream Realization Program

    In 2015, through the cooperation between the Chen-Yung Foundation and the National Performing Arts Center, we organized the “Art Zero Distance” Dream Realization Program and invited the special education students to watch performances and take guided tours at the National Performing Arts Center. After the event, many students asked when they could watch performances again. Some students also gave their word to come back to watch future performances, which led to the holding of the “Dream Realization Program-Enter the Theater to Watch Fun Dance Series” activities. All the special education teachers and parents were invited to watch performances in various professional theaters.

We believe the world is filled with love and warmth, and in art and education we draw our strength. Professional dance brings out our strength, which not only gives meaning to our actions, but also enriches our vision and life.

The Teacher’s Experience Sharing(1):

    Amazingly, the special education children are so quiet and focused on the performances of the teachers on the stage. A schoolteacher told me that he could not believe the children actually had the chance to appreciate performances in the theater and behaved so well, which was great encouragement for the teachers and students. One severely autistic child completely changed after watching the performances. He smiled more and was willing to move his body and cheerfully complete the entire dance class with everyone else (He used to stand quietly on the side). Another girl was determined to someday dance on the stage like the teachers. As the saying goes, dreams make life beautiful. JUEDAI brings these special children more hope.

The Teacher’s Experience Sharing(2):

    Most special education children come from economically disadvantaged families. Limited by adverse family culture and economic factors, these students are rarely exposed to dance or other arts in daily life. In addition, since the school’s special education teachers are not from professional art and humanities fields, they find it difficult to make suitable course arrangements and teaching targeting the special circumstances of each child. Therefore, we are indebted to the sponsors and JUEDAI for granting our school such a precious experience. In consideration to the school’s use of funds, there are limitations and provisions, including full payments for teachers’ salaries and related expenses and hiring professional teacher to teaching on campus. The teachers design different creative activities and courses targeting individual children with impairment and according to their ability. After one semester of class observations, children were able to express themselves through the music melody, rhythm, and beat, thereby improving their concentration, comprehension, and self-assuredness.

    In addition to rich curriculum arrangements this semester, we would like to extend gratitude to JUEDAI for holding performances on campus through the “Dance with Angels” performances” Public Welfare Seminar activities as well as the “2016 “From Ancient to Modern” Fun Dance Watching”, including free performances at the professional theater intended for the special education children where we could freely appreciate stress-free professional dance performances and experience the lighting and sound effects in the theater. This precious experience is unprecedented. Later on, the children voluntarily expressed in class their wish to draw on paper the precious images and experiences in their heart and give them to the serious and dedicated dance troupe teachers who performed. It was truly moving to see the happy look on their faces.
